Nurture Group News
The Nurture Group theme this term has been Pirates, and much of the work done by the children from years 1,2,3 has been based on the theme. We have had a wonderful time making cutlasses telescopes, earrings, hats, masks , at the same time developing social skills, attention and listening skills, motor skills ,and increasing motivation.
We have also learnt some action songs and games, and taken part in several cooking activities including making edible treasure chests ,eel jelly, grog (ginger beer), and hard tack –( a special hard biscuit that would last for months at sea,)
The children have been working towards their own individual behaviour targets by collecting doubloons (pirate coins) that can be exchanged for a small treat when the target is reached.

Parent Workshops
Our parent workshops run every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm. The format of each session is roughly the same – parents come in for a drink and chat about what we will be doing , the children are then collected from class, and we all do activities together.  So far we have been cooking, playing games, practising relaxation, and talking about ways to help children manage their feelings. We welcome all parents , and you decide what the focus of each week should be.  You don’t need to commit yourself to coming every week ,although that would be nice.
