Cooking Days

During the autumn term, every class in years 1 to 6 have had the opportunity to learn to cook. Year 1 made fruit salad, Year 2 Welsh rarebit, Year 3 fruit crumble, Year 4 guacamole & hummus, Year 5 pizza and Year 6 chick pea & mushroom curry. There have also been cooking sessions for parents and children to cook together after school on Mondays. Everyone has had a lot of fun and learnt a lot about our food, where it comes from and how to cook it. We learnt how to use equipment safely and also how to wash up and wipe the tables properly.
In January we will be inviting parents to come and cook and when your child cooks in the Spring term
you will be invited to come after school the following week and let them show you how to make the same recipe.
We hope you can come along and share with us!

Children in Need

Spotty Spotty Spotty       Staff and pupils enjoyed a fundraising day on the 18th November. The theme this year was ‘Show Your Spots’ , and children and adults dressed up, and brought in 50p each for the charity.
A  massive total of  £560 taken on the day. This included £43 from F1 for face painting, £200 from  the sale of wristbands    and the rest from dressing up up, and from the cake sale  - which this sold out in a record 5 minutes.
Thank you to everyone for their amazing contributions.
National School Meals Week
National School meals Week       As part of National School Meals Week, 6 Year 6 pupils visited the school kitchen. They had a really interesting tour of all the equipment and then watched the cooks prepare ginger cake and pasta with tomato sauce.
We then went into the Specialist Practical room and made our own versions of both the dishes we'd seen. We had a great morning and learnt a lot.

Chef Assembly

The whole school had a treat in last Friday's assembly, as chef, Stewart Westwater, came in to give a cookery demonstartion.
Four lucky pupils helped him to prepare the two courses that he cooked and another eight got to be customers and taste them!
We all really enjoyed the garlic prawns and crepe suzette!
Thanks Stewart for showing us how it's done.

Halloween Disco
This year's Halloween Disco was lots of fun, with some spooky costumes and great dancing.
Well done to the winners of the fancy dress competitions.
It was lovely to see all the hard work people had done on their costumes.
The disco raised £162 for the PFA, so a big thank-you to everyone who joined in.

Years 3 & 4 made their own models of the Titanic, with hand sewn carpets,
handmade furniture and even handmade people!
Year 5 and 6 made carefully engineered bridges,
to show what they had learnt about bridge design.
