They had the opportunity to try on a variety of items of religious headgear and talk about why they are worn.
They studied maps of Leicester City Centre and saw how many great facilities we have so near by.
They also learnt about the origins of some of our words and made a map showing some of our links to other places in the world.
Everyone enjoyed the day and learnt a lot about how diverse Leicester is.

Aspirtions Week
In the last week in July the whole school enjoyed
a week of learning about careers.
We had lots of fantastic visitors
who came and told us all about their jobs.
The week was kicked off by a racing car driver,
who told us all about her career
during Monday's assembly.
Throughout the week we were visited by
nurses, police, cabin crew, a photographer
and many more.
Everyone in school really enjoyed learning so much about so many different jobs and would like to say a big THANK-YOU to everyone who helped out!

We were really lucky to be visited by Dhol Enforcemnet Agency (DEA) led by Indi Singh Soor, a group of Sikh musicians who explained and played a wide range of musical instruments in assembly and taught the whole school some great dance moves.
They then spent the rest of the day teaching each class how to play the dhol (their special, double sided drum) and all about the Khalsa and the symbols of being a Sikh.
They taught us so much about the festival, sikhism and the special music. They also showed the whole school how to celebrate!

This term we have been concentrating on healthy eating. Jessiecca from the Leicestershire Dieticians Service came to tlak to everyone in KS! about food groups and a balanced diet.
On Thursdays after school, Candy and Sue came to talk about nutrition and make some delicious healthy food with 15 children and their parents. They've had 6 sessions and have made fruit rumblers, healthy muffins, fish cakes, fruit crumble and next week it's party food. They've also learnt about how to eat healthily at home and a t school.
We hope to be able to continue the club next half term.

We also have a new stage, which has already proved extremely popular with all year groups. Most break and lunch times a large group of children of all ages sit and watch other pupils perform songs, jokes and dances!

Playpod!
The Playpod is resourced by The Children's Resource Centre and has provided us with a fantastic range of manufacturing surplus materials for the children to play with at lunch times. They absolutely LOVE playing together, building and learning to share.

This type of curriculum enrichment allows the children to develop their creative side, learn to share and also learn about how different materials behave and can be used.

Litter Zappers
Our fantastic first team of Litter Zappers have been out on the playground in their lovely new yellow bibs.
They also have brand new long reach litter grabbers
so that they can collect litter without touching it.
The bibs and grabbers were bought using the Tesco vouchers that you all generously donated.
Different year groups will litter pick each week,
so that our grounds will be lovely and tidy.
